Imaam Sufyaan ath-Thawri (rahimahullah) said

"Do not take a small sin lightly; instead, think about who it is that you are disobeying: you are disobeying an Almighty Lord who (sometimes) punishes people for small sins and (sometimes) pardons people for great sins
