Shaykh Maher, tawhid class hadith Mu'ad
Hadith Mu'adh Bin Jabal (May Allah be pleased with him)
It is narrated that Mu'adh bin Jabal (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I was riding behind the Prophet (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) on a donkey and he said to me "O Mu'adh, do you know what is the right of Allah on his slaves and what is the right of the slaves upon Allah?" I responded: "Allah and His Messenger know best." He continued, "The Right of Allah upon His slaves is to worship Him Alone and never to associate anything with him. The right of slaves upon Him is not to punish any person who does not associate anything with Him." I said: "O Allah's Messenger, may I not give the glad tidings to the people?" He replied: "No. Do not inform them lest they rely on (this promise and lapse in their service to Him). The above Hadith is mentioned in two Sahih Books Al-Bukhari and Muslim Shaykh Mahir Al Qahtani explains: The 1st matter in the hadith The statements of the Prophet May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him: O Mu'adh, do you know what is the right of Allah on his slaves. The answer to that is to worship Him alone and to not associate anything with him in their worship Meaning that they don't take other than Him as deities. Calling to them in du'a, Sacrificing to them, Or fear them like they fear Him Sobhanah. The reward of entering heaven Question: Is it a right that we will classify in the category of a favor and a blessing or a return price? Answer: It will be indeed a right of a favor and a blessing and not a return reward as it was mentioned by Shaykh Al Islam. Shaykh Mahir goes on and says it is a blessing amongst many other blessings like the blessing of the eyes. It is not worth a worship of 500 years or more, 1 blessing alone Allah says in Surat Ibrahim verse 34: And if you count the blessings of Allah never will you be able to count them Therefore this is a right that we consider a favor from Allah and not a right in return The statement of Allah “This is paradise, which you have inherited for what you used to do” 7.43 Surat Al A’raf With the statement of the prophet (May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) None will enter heaven with his actions Question How can we combine these two statements that are in contradiction Answer You do not say that you get to heaven in return of your actions here because heaven is greater or worth more than your actions. Even if you worshiped 500 years. A heaven that no eyes have seen and no ears have heard It is a favor from Allah that you may enter heaven. The actions are a cause or a way to finding mercy of Allah The Most Merciful, by His acceptance and His blessing you enter heaven This is why Allah says regarding the Taqwa “My mercy encompasses all things. So I will decree it for those who fear Me and give the zakat” 7.156 Surat Al A’raf. Therefore taqwa Allah is a way to His mercy and heaven is a mercy of Allah So the actions are a purpose a cause to the mercy of Allah and a return price to heaven It is a cause to the mercy, the blessing, the favor of The Most Merciful The 2nd matter The right of the slaves upon Allah Is this right mandatory upon Allah or did He grant it as a favor, a generous favor. What would the correct answer be Did He prescribe it or write it about Himself? Answer: we say yes As it is not the slaves that have written it upon Himself, But Allah Himself that prescribed about Himself what He wants Allah says: He Has prescribed mercy for Himself. Surat Al An'am 6:12 It is Him that prescribed it for Himself. As shaykh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiya said about the ones from Ahl Sunnah: That they say: It is Him that prescribed upon Himself this right Shaykh Mahir says: and this is what will get you to worship Allah and you are relaxed and at a state of tranquility. As He informed through His messenger that if you die without associating with Him, He will not punish you And the mu'tazila say this would lead us to compare the creatures to the creator so we leave it off. Because they are rational going by reasoning. They don't have faith in the unseen from what the people of the Sunnah mention regarding the characteristics of Allah Sobhanahu wa Ta'ala. Allah is the First nothing is before Him and the Last nothing is after Him, the Most High nothing is above Him and the Most Near nothing is nearer than Him. And up to this point, is what I manage to translate of the first class on this website of Kitab Tawheed from our Shaykh, Shaykh Maher. May Allah forgive him, better his ending, make his last action his best and enter him jannah. Wa Allah a’lam wassalla Allah ‘ala Nabiyina Mohammed |
